Today we celebrated literacy.  We explored opinion writing, persuasive writing, how to writing and are beginning to explore responding to books.  Thanks so much everyone for all your support with our breakfast buffet.  I am most grateful.

Mrs. Ali Visits Kindergarten!

Every Wednesday, Mrs. Ali visits Kindergarten to teach us a new skill.  She is an occupational therapist. Today we explored scissors.  It was really fun.  We learned about the Berry Strategy and the Rainbow Strategy.  Be sure to ask us about what the strategies are.  They both help us cut and trace straight sides to learn the names of shapes.

Williston Food Shelf

On Friday Ms. Kelly from the Williston Food Shelf visited Kindergarten.  She talked to us about the role of the food shelf and we also had an opportunity to make choices about what foods would make a healthy breakfast,  lunch and dinner.  She left us signs to use for our food drive in March.  We will be collecting food from March until mid April and then we plan on walking to the food shelf again to deliver food.
 

We are looking forward to making a difference for others in our community.  Thanks for all your support with this ongoing project.

Persuasive Writers in Kindergarten

Today we explored persuasive writing.  We discovered that when we write a persuasive piece, we are trying to convince and persuade someone to agree with our idea.  We used lots of different reading strategies to help us write and we even created our own paper doll.

A Voicethread; Mo Willems Characters

Today we created a voicethread about our favorite Mo Willems character.  Voicethread is a great way to capture our ideas about what we are exploring.
