We are creating number counting books that were inspired by a counting book about octopuses.


Tomorrow we connect with a marine biologist to help us understand the creatures that live under the water. Then on Monday thanks to #Skypeascientist we connect with another marine biologist to explain about the types of plants that grow under the water.

Such a wonderful afternoon snowshoeing in the warm sunshine. This afternoon many of the children made mathematical connections with some of the natural things we found in the snow. One of the children shared that we are supporting Global Goal #3 because we are getting exercise in the fresh air. One child shared: "Mrs. D. being outside helped my learning!"

We read 2 wonderful stories about animals as well. Both stories were about creatures that moved using their bodies and flexible legs and body. The creatures need the water to survive.

We read a wonderful story about a bear and how important the water is for the bear's survival.
Recycle Rhonda visited kindergarten to help us explore the life of worms and how they help with composting too!

We read a wonderful story about the ocean. We focused on how we could use our curiosity to wonder. This is an attitude that is part of the National Geographic Learning Framework. We had lots of questions about what we observed throughout the story.

We read another wonderful story by Jon Klassen.
Our school filled the Beehive so we had a celebration with our reading buddies. We made snowflakes.
We are working on our ASK  for our Geo-Inquiry Process about water. We will be using Skype to connect with a real scientist soon.

Today we used explore.org as a way to observe real animals in their natural habits.

We read a wonderful story about shapes and created mice using lots of different 2-dimensional shapes.
Later in the morning, many students visited kindergarten. Many were former students and really enjoyed working with the children on all the different projects.
We wrote our Geo-Inquiry questions about what we wonder about and shared our ideas with the world.

Today we read another Global Goal book that supports #14 Life Below Water. As we explore this Global Goal we will be using the Geo-Inquiry Process to help us explore water and what we can do to advocate to keep the water clean for everyone.
