April 29th

Today we walked on the Allen Brook Nature Trail and made many observations of bird life. We used our binoculars to help us see things up close that are far away and our explorer hats kept the rain off our faces.

Look here to see photos from today. We were cartographers today too. We created a map of the Allen Brook Trail and what we observed.

Today we explored getting to know birds on the Audubon site, here. We are thinking about adaptations that birds have. We are curious about why certain birds have specific adaptations. We are thinking that this might have to do with where they live and the type of bird they are.

April 12th

Today we began our exploration of birds. We read a couple of wonderful stories to help us think about the features birds have and all the different colors, shapes, and adaptations they have too.

We created another map of the world so that we can place the birds we explore where they can be found. This helps us think about the different places in the world where birds live and how we can help advocate and care for bird habitats.

April 9th

Today we read a couple of wonderful stories. Triangle connected to our exploration of 2D and 3D shapes. The book shared how shapes can interact and where we might find them in nature. As readers and writers, the children have been writing independently and responding to the text through detailed illustrations and thinking about how their words look.
