Today Mrs. Clapton visited kindergarten. She showed us how to use Sora. This is available to all children. It is a wonderful tool to use to listen to and read along with real books. Your child can have up to 3 books at a time on their shelf.

We are beginning to create maps too! As cartographers we are exploring the idea of how maps are another way of telling a story.

We read another wonderful story about Zero Hunger too! In the story the characters were poor and then had some good fortune. Afterwards they decided to share their good fortune with others.

December 1st

Today we read to more wonderful Global Goal stories about hunger. The children had an opportunity to respond to the stories through writing, speaking, and create a favorite character. Through listening and thinking about what it is like for others we have an opportunity to experience empathy, think about what it must be like for others in different parts of the world and where they go to get their food.

We read to wonderful stories about One and Two. The stories touch upon the value of friendship and self-discovery. One helps us explore the idea of what happens when others are picked on in an unkind way and what we can do to be helpful and model kindness.

The children made many mathematical connections like number recognition, counting order, making predictions about what number is next, and number formation. The books also helped us explore odd and even numbers too!

Today we read a wonderful story about the life of a worm. We explored story characters and we noticed that some books have special features like the date. This can help us understand where and what time of year an observation is being made.

We used Chatterpix to share what we learned about worms. Look for your child's Chatterpix in their Seesaw journal.
