Learning From Home: Day 60

Today we read a wonderful story called;" ALMA". It was wonderful to learn about how our names tell a story about us and our history. 

Today's Challenge: Talk to someone at home about your name. Where did it come from? Share your story with someone.

Learning From Home: Day 59

Today we read a wonderful story called; "I Am Enough". The story helped us think about who we are and to also think about how important it is to respect and be kind to others.


Today's Challenge: Talk to someone at home about ways you can be kind to others. Share ideas about what you might say to help someone feel happy.

Learning From Home: Day 58

What is the red stuff on a turkey? Today we watched a Mystery Doug and he explored this question with us. 

Today's Challenge: Go outside and look around and see if you can find a place where you think a turkey might like to live. What do you notice? Why do you think it would make a great habitat for a turkey? I am sending an activity sheet for you to try the fanciest turkey if you wish.

Today we listened to a story called; "Mac and Cheese." I enjoyed the characters in the story. I noticed many rhyming words too. I wonder which character you would want to be.

Today's Challenge: Draw an illustration of one of the characters from the story. What character did you draw? Why? Share your illustration with Mrs. D.

Learning From Home: Day 55

Today we explored migration and how climate change impacts food sources, habitats for birds, and bird migration. Thank you, to our Skype Scientist, Rebecca Finger Higgens, Ph.D.

Today's Challenge: Go outside and take a walk with someone in your family. Listen to the different sounds you hear. Share your observations with someone. How many different sounds did you hear? Ask yourself where is the sound from?

Learning From Home: Day 54

Today we read a beautiful story by Peter Reynolds.  The book is called:'Say Something." The book helped us explore ways we can use our voices to be kind and to advocate and speak up when things seem unfair.
Today's Challenge: Talk to someone about how you can be kind to nature. Talk to someone about how you can be kind to animals. Talk to someone about how you can be kind to people.
Draw a picture of yourself showing the world who you are! Share with Mrs. D.

Learning From Home: Day 52



Today we watched 3 videos thanks to National Geographic about 3 different types of birds. The Spotted Owl, the Gentoo Penguin, and the Harpy Eagle.
Today's Challenge: Which bird would you like to be and why? Choose a bird and then write why you would want to be that bird. Draw a picture too!
