November 30th

Today we began exploring Global Goal #2, Zero Hunger. We had a GoogleMeet with Jen from the food shelf who talked to us about what a food shelf is and why we need them in communities.

We are collecting large, brown paper bags to decorate for the food shelf. Please send in any bags that we could use.

We read  a great story about the colors we eat. Today at lunch we made lots of connections with the food we ate too.

The children are busy connecting the Global goals to the exploration we are involved in about the environment. Our classroom map helps us think about what the land and water are like in other places in the world. This helps us make connections with our positive actions can make a difference for everyone.

Today the children worked in different literacy stations where they had hands-on opportunities to create the sight words and letters we are exploring in kindergarten.

Today we read another great Pete the Cat story. The children wrote about their favorite part and created a detailed illustration with Mr. E.

We continue to think about connecting our daily actions of being less wasteful with #15 Life On Land.

The children created weather gauges to begin to collect water. This will be interesting to observe over time to see how much water is collected and to think about how the weather impacts moisture.

Today the children continued to read different Pete the Cat books. Today the children explored rhyme. This included identifying rhymes and producing them through a playful story.

The children continue to log the weather daily in their weather journals too and make observations just like a meteorologist.

As we explore the world and the Global Goals we continue to connect our positive actions with our daily life in kindergarten. This week your child will be coming home with their own Global Goal sheet that they can use to cut out the goals and put up around their home when they do an action that supports a goal.

November 6th

We read to wonderful stories about One and Two. The stories touch upon the value of friendship and self-discovery. One helps us explore the idea of what happens when others are picked on in an unkind way and what we can do to be helpful and model kindness.

The children made many mathematical connections like number recognition, counting order, making predictions about what number is next, and number formation. The books also helped us explore odd and even numbers too!

November 5th

Today we read a wonderful story about the life of a worm. We explored story characters and we noticed that some books have special features like the date. This can help us understand where and what time of year an observation is being made.

We used Chatterpix to share what we learned about worms. Look for your child's Chatterpix in their Seesaw journal.
