November 30th

Today the children explored how to make a push and pull. They added water to the bottles and noticed an increase in speed. Later while outdoors, sledding the children connected what they learned this morning about how when sledding their body can pull them down the hill.

Today we explored a new nursery rhyme. 

As mathematicians, we connected the rhyme with counting order. We practiced counting forward, backward, and we worked on numeral writing and numeral ID. 


The children did a wonderful job using unifix cubes to measure all of the different webs.

Today we learned a couple more new rhymes and then created a spider traveling up a water spout.

We explored numbers 0-11 and 11-20. We are thinking about what number comes before and after a number 0-21.

We are recognizing acts of kindness and being kind to our friends.

Today we explored a push. We discovered that a force causes an object to move. A pull is a force that causes an object to move towards the person pulling the object.

The children are enjoying exploring the different ways that objects can move and thinking about what makes things go fast and slow.

Today we were cartographers and created maps of where forest animals live in the world.

We had fun counting forward and backward and writing our numerals 1-20!

Today we read a wonderful story about kindness. We thought of ways that we could be kind to each other, nature, and the world.

Later we created drawings of an action we could do to show and express kindness.

As we explored outside this morning we noticed things we could do to care for nature.

Today we explored a nocturnal animal, the bat. We read about how bats like to move at night and eat insects.

We created our own scientific drawings of bats inspired by the book Bats, by, Gail Gibbons.



We are exploring 2 dimensional and 3-dimensional shapes this month. Please share a 2 D or 3 D shape you find in your home or outside in nature with us.

Today we read another wonderful story by Gail Gibbons. Her books are filled with great information and she also uses labels with her illustrations to help the reader understand information.

The owls that the children created are detailed, colorful, and informative.
It is wonderful to see such creativity.

Today we began exploring the animals that live in forests. We created a list of animals and will be exploring where they live and what the forest is like where they have their habitat.
