Today we explored counting with precision. As mathematicians counting with precision helps us become awesome 1;1 counter and terrific oral counters. We read many wonderful books to help us think mathematically.

The children are doing a great job justifying their thinking too!

Today we reflected on the weather for the past 4 days. We shared observations and our ideas about why the weather might be the same and why it changes.

We connected how we collected data about where we were born too. Collecting data is fun and it helps us learn from what we notice.

Today we explored the different temperature zones. They are the polar zone, tropical zone, and temperate zone. The children did a great job asking questions about how this connects to Global Goal #13. Climate Action.

Lots of cartographers in kindergarten.

As mathematicians, we have been working on subitizing. This is when we can recognize a group of numbers quickly. This helps us when we are adding and looking for patterns. We explored a new App today to help us think deeper about subitizing.

Today we explored ways that we can know what the weather is like. This helps us know what to wear and to be ready to be outside. Mystery Science

We created weather booklets and painted a canvas of our favorite kind of weather.

Today as weather watchers we were observing the clouds. The children were outside exploring the sky and imagining what the different cloud shapes might be. We started our new weather watcher journals where we make daily observations and record what we notice.

Today we explored how our skill of observation can help us learn about the weather.

Our senses help us think about temperature and by being a weather watcher we can learn a lot about the weather by looking up at the sky and by observing living things on land.

Today we explored wind. We created some different tools to help us know how windy it is.

We have a science center that we will be using daily to help us create and design tools that help us learn about the weather. Today your child is coming home with 2 tools in their weather watcher bag.

Today we started a new theme about the weather. The children began by creating illustrations of sunny and rainy weather. We are beginning to think about the seasonal changes and what that means for us and the animals.

Today we explored how scientists observe wild animals. When we are outside we try to make observations safely and quietly. This helps us learn about the creatures we find in nature while also being respectful of the animal in their natural habitats.

We explored Global Goal #13 Climate Action today also. We watched a great video to remind us about climate is and some ideas we can do to help keep our planet cool. Video here

Today we explored the Global Goals by reflecting on some of our favorites. Then we wrote about what they are in our new journals. As writers and readers, the children are writing more independently, sounding out words, using our word wall and books to locate words, and copying a message. Awesome job!

Today the children created an animal they were curious about. Steve Jenkins is a great author and illustrates animals and their unique features. Check out the library for some of these amazing books. The children have been using his books to help create and design an animal and/or its unique features.

Today the children created their favorite animal. Tomorrow the children will be creating a ChatterKid and we will share it with you on Seesaw.

The children are working on skip counting and sequencing numbers 0-21, and sequencing numbers from the largest to the smallest.

Today we explored animals that live below the water. We used Mystery Science to help us think about what the fastest animal is in the water too.

We are exploring Global Goal #3 Good Health & Well Being. We explored ways we can help take care of ourselves, each other, & the animals all over the world.

Today we explored the beaver and the deer. The children had fun exploring outdoors where they think these animals might live and how they get their food.

We are working on writing persuasive pieces of writing. We came up with 4 steps to think about and follow and think about when we write.
Today we explored the snowshoe hare and looked for tracks on our morning hike.

Today we explored the raccoon. We hiked outside and used our skill of observation to explore where we think a raccoon's habitat might be. We learned from the Skit & Scat program that animal habitats need 4 things. They are 1. water 2. food 3. shelter 4. spatial surroundings.

We created pieces of art of an animal we are curious about too.
