Kites! Kites! Kites!
This morning we created our own kite! We used tissue paper, straws, tape and yarn. This afternoon we will fly them outside! This will be a great way to see how the wind and air work together!

Problem Solving in Kindergarten!
I have photographed some of the problems we have worked on in Kindergarten since January for you to see. The children read the problem, make sure they understand the ? and start to solve the problem. We use lots of math language, numbers, diagrams, t-charts and pictures to show our "mathematical thinking"! I also use a rubric to assess how your child does when they have finished their work. In Kindergarten we use this from time to time as a check-in to see how we are progressing. I have also put a picture of the rubric on this blog entry for you to see.
Your child will be bringing home their Problem Solving Folder on Friday for you to see. Please be sure to send it back to Kindergarten on Monday! Thanks again so much for your continued support and cooperation!

The First Day of Spring!
Today in recognition of spring we enjoyed writing in our Journals about activities that we like to do in spring. The children have been doing lots of writing using their pencils so that their pictures are drawn carefully with lots of detail and labels! The children are writing independently remembering to leave spaces in between their words, using punctuation and even when to use capital letters. Nice job!

Reading Aloud with Ms. Camille!
After recess we enjoyed a great story by Mo Willems called Knuffle Bunny. Miss Cami did a great job reading to us. She asked us to show our emotions like the character Trixie in the story. We had lots of fun.

Miss Jessica!
This morning Miss Jessica, an intern from UVM discovered that our Morning Message was missing! She found it, but noticed many letters and punctuation marks were missing! We had fun editing the message.
Then we greeted each other pretending we had a mask on! We could only make gestures, no sounds!

The Water Cycle!
This afternoon we talked a lot about what happens to water, where it goes and how important it is. We even tried an experiment helping us to "see" what happens to the water when it rises into the air. Be sure to ask your child about the experiment. Enjoy!

Morning Exploration!
We had some great activities this morning during our exploration time. Some of the children were grabbing handfuls of frogs! Then they had to divide the frogs into groups to make an addition sentence. Other children were working on scrapbook pages, while others were illustrating their stories. Some of us even enjoyed experimenting with things that sink or float! Great learning happening this morning!

Does it Sink or Float?
This afternoon we experimented with water. We observed that heavy objects sank, while others floated.
Here is a list of what we discovered about water:
1. Water is wet.
2. Water is a liquid.
3. Water helps things grow.
4. We need to drink lots of water.
5. Water comes from the rain.
6. Water is in the air.
7. Fish need the water to make oxygen to breathe
8. Water is wavy and can move real fast!

A Hands On Workshop With Suzanne!
This morning we enjoyed doing some dance, movement and acting out as the characters Max and Ruby from stories written by Rosemary Wells. Be sure to ask your child about what we did!
