Wow! Awesome reading this morning! The children read with a partner and read books to each other and together. It was wonderful to see the children applying the reading strategies that they have learned while reading. Great expression and focus! Wow!
Welcome to our classroom blog! Our blog is like a journal, a never ending account and record of all the exciting adventures we experience in Kindergarten. We are an enthusiastic group of people who care about each other and the world. We hope you enjoy reading, listening and watching what we do!

Geoff Gevalt Comes To Kindergarten!
This morning Mr. Geoff came to Kindergarten to talk to us about some of the important features that you need to include when you tell and write a story. Every child had an object that they choose to tell a story about. We shared our story by doing a "turn and talk". Then we made an illustration of our object which had lots of detail and color. Later on this afternoon we woke about our story. We were trying to include 3 important events in our story. We decided it was important to have a beginning, a middle and an end to our story. Stay tuned..... We will be posting our work on our Literacy Wiki! The children thought this was a good idea so we will also be podcasting our stories too! What Fun! ******* Remember to click on the pictures to get a close look!*******************

Reading Aloud In Kindergarten!
We have started a reading aloud time that is run by the children. Everyday we try to have a new reader! Your child will be coming home with a book to practice with you at home and will then bring into Kindergarten to read to the class. This is a great activity for practicing oral fluency, being a special reader and of course it makes you feel special and it is so fun!

A Garden Of Butterflies!
This morning we started an observation activity involving some butterfly larvae. Our larval culture cup is in an area where it will get lots of light and air. In a few weeks the larvae will become butterflies! Then we will be able to keep them in a special butterfly net and make scientific observations about their life cycle! The name of the butterfly we are observing is called the Painted Lady!
