Welcome to our classroom blog! Our blog is like a journal, a never ending account and record of all the exciting adventures we experience in Kindergarten. We are an enthusiastic group of people who care about each other and the world. We hope you enjoy reading, listening and watching what we do!

Creating, Designing and Collaborating!
So all it took was a couple of balls of colored yarn, some masking tape scissors, blocks, tinker toys and furniture and my students began to almost seamlessly collaborate together to create spider webs, trap doors and even some interesting inventions! Through play young children explore risk taking, collaboration, communication, leadership, critical thinking and of course use their imagination!

Keeping Our Teeth Clean!
This morning we had some visitors talk to us about the importance of keeping our teeth clean. We learned that our mouths have lots of bugs! These bugs like food that is not healthy! We learned that keeping our mouth and teeth clean help keep these bugs away!
We met a new friend too! We all had an opportunity to practice brushing the monkey's teeth!

Motion, Force and Mass!
We explored Newton's Law by using scooters! We discovered that depending on how much force you have depends on how far your scooter will travel. We also think that objects can not move unless their is force.
Be sure to ask your child about some of our new vocabulary we have been exploring! Here are some of our new words: acceleration, force, gravity, speed, mass, inertia

Newton's Law
This morning we read a great story and began to explore the idea of motion!
Newton's 1st Law: (kindergarten words, from"Newton and Me")
1."Something won't move unless a force makes it move."
2. "If you push something twice as hard, it will move twice as fast." But if one thing is twice as heavy as another, it will only go half way."
Here are some of the things that we noticed.....
1. Bigger balls fall faster because they have more mass! They fall quickly.
2. When we rolled our balls down a block ramp it went faster because it was heavier and it was going downhill. "Gravity pulled it Mrs. D."
3. When you use a little force, their is not a lot of movement.
4. When you use a lot of force, their is a lot of movement.

We Are Busy Studying Mrs. D.!
Today we explored a new App, PZ Free. Click here to get App! The App gives students a chance to read about real animals all over the world! You choose an animal and you can hear what they sound like and then watch a video about them. Today as we explored this new App many of my students were telling me that they were studying! One student said,"Mrs. D. I now know a lot about the shark! Did you know...?"
