Taking A Breath
This morning in Kindergarten we watched a video about the importance of breath and how it can help us relax, take a break and reflect. Just Breathe Tomorrow we hope to create our own mindfulness jar to bring home and use. This is a great way to stop and think before we act. If you have any jars, any size please send in! We are grateful!

Living The Dream
In Kindergarten this month we have been focusing a lot on feelings, sharing, being kind and supporting each other. Today we watched a video about an amazing man, Martin Luther King Jr. It is a great video about who he was, his life and his impact. Thanks to Mr. Deyo's Kindergarten class! Click here to watch.
Today we created our dreams during our writer's workshop time and also made an iMovie!

It's All About The Weather!
Today Ms. Olivia began a new exploration of the weather. We read a great story and described lots of different types of weather. Then during play some of us created a castle that was very strong, but the wind was trying to blow it over. Then a few children collaborated and created a windmill. This can be helpful in getting wind power!

Gathering in the Morning as a Community
In Kindergarten we begin each day together on our meeting rug where we say hello, do an activity and read a morning message. Our morning message contains news, celebrations and ideas we are exploring. Reading a message together like this each day helps us explore how we read.
We discovered these ideas on Thursday while we read together:
1. When we read, we read left to right like we do when we read our morning message.
2. We stop and take a breath when we see a period.
3. We notice words that have special features like th, sh and ch.
4. We can see sight words and we even noticed sight words inside of other words.
