We started reading a wonderful story about the winter solstice.

Today we read a new Global Goal book, Yard Sale. We compared and contrasted the ideas to two other Global Goal books that support #1 No Poverty.

We used the design process to create boats and gingerbread people to travel down the river today. We read a wonderful story about a gingerbread boy too! We are reading different versions of the story and comparing and contrasting the big ideas.

Today we created fridges using the design learning process.
The children created their own fridge and labeled the foods that are found in their fridge.

This afternoon we enjoyed snowshoeing on the nature trail. We even made it to Allen Brook!
Everyone is becoming quite confident in their ability to navigate on snowshoes too!

This afternoon we enjoyed snowshoeing up the mountain. The children noticed many shapes in nature like; spheres, cylinders, squares, and even a rhombus!

We read a couple of wonderful stories today about the continent of Antarctica. We are following Collin, an explorer with Reach The World who is in Antarctica exploring animal life and the geography.

We played a new sight word game on our Smartboard this morning. I was awarded a $500.00 grant from Vermont NEA to purchase science materials too!

Today we Skyped with a forest ranger in Yellowstone National Park. We learned a lot about forest ecology. Later we learned about the Williston Food Shelf. We will be exploring Global Goal #2 Zero Hunger soon.

This afternoon we went snowshoeing. The children did a great job putting on their "shoes" and taking them off. Next time we hope to climb the mountain when we get more snow!

Today we read a couple of stories about friendship and about sharing our voices. We connected many reading and writing strategies as well to both of the books. As we become strong readers we are beginning to notice many sight words in the books we are reading also.
