We read a couple of great books today. The books helped us think mathematically and also about the importance of taking care of nature. 

We had our first school assembly and it was wonderful. All of kindergarten sang and we even did some mindfulness together as a school community.

Ms. Wilson our Digital Learning Leader visited kindergarten this morning and read us a story about being safe while online and being respectful when someone asks us to put technology away as well.

The children enjoyed 2 books today.

Sally enjoys a trip through the wilderness and enjoys meeting other animals. The story is a reminder of the importance of why natural habitats matter as they are home to many living things.

Today the children experimented with the ideas around sinking and floating. Using different types of apples the children made scientific predictions about why certain apples would either sink or float.

The story is about a dinosaur who is well-liked by people in the town because of her kindness, even when someone tries to convince others that dinosaurs are extinct.

We read a story about kindness called; Be Kind." The story reminded us of different acts of kindness and how much they can impact others.
Recycle Rhonda visited kindergarten today also to teach us about the 3 R's. We are thinking of ways to create less waste in kindergarten.

We read another wonderful story today about apples too and created scientific drawings of an apple stem.

We also learned that the largest apple in the world weighs 4 pounds and is called the "Hokuto" apple and is found in Japan.

We read and explored many different types of apple books today. We talked about non fiction and fiction books and how we can get information from both types of books.



We watched a great video about the life cycle of an apple tree too. All apple trees need water, sun, soil, a seed, and care also.

We have a new literacy volunteer on Wednesday mornings. Her name is Mrs. Toomey who is helping us with our literacy skills.

Today we read a wonderful story about needs and wants.  This was a wonderful discussion about the difference between our needs and our wants.

We explored a new math App called Pattern Shapes too.

Today we began exploring code. As coders we discovered that we can also be programers. We are creating code to move the bees from 1 place to another. We collaborated and thought like mathematicians too.


We read 2 wonderful stories. One was about friendship and the other was a Global Goal book. We connected the story All The World with Global Goal #15 Life On Land.

Today we read 2 stories and we made text to text connections too. Letters and numbers are both made with diagonal, straight, and curvy lines, but they mean different things.
We spent time partner reading and making observations in the illustrations of books.
Outside today we talked about how we are all becoming explorers and how we use different skills, attitudes, and knowledge to help us learn about the natural world.

During our math workshop time we are exploring many new materials. We made mathematical connections today and justified our thinking.

Today we read a story about a very hungry caterpillar. The children used story props to act the story out and then we started working on our own books to read during our reading time.
This afternoon Ms. Sara visited us. She helps people who have vision challenges. Today we learned some things that we can do for people who have vision challenges.

We can:
1. Put things back in there place.
2. Ask someone if they need help.
3. Be a human guide
4. Some people may use a guide dog.

We read a wonderful story this afternoon. The children then created their own ideas about things they wonder about.
We are reading lots of books that rhyme. Today we got our reading bins and were able to read books with a partner. Later we visited with Mrs. McCormack's Class for reading buddies.  
We added where we were born and where we have been on our map today too!

Today we read a wonderful story about school. We connected with the ideas of trying to be kind, be brave, and be our best.
Today we labeled the continents and made a mathematical connection. We noticed we have 7 days in a week and 7 continents.
We finished our self-portraits and learned how to use Doodle Buddy to make different types of lines and numbers.
