Today we created a fish in it's habitat as an informal assessment of what we learned as we explored the life of fish.

Today we read a wonderful story about a garden. We connected it with the gardens we have outside of our classroom. We are weeding and watering our gardens each day to help them grow and stay healthy.

Today we welcomed spring. The children made beautiful spring flowers out of community paper and we spent lots of time weeding our garden outside of our classroom too!

Today we explored persuasive writing. We wrote about why we care about fish and how important it is for others to care as well.
Today the children worked on details for their paper mache fish and enjoyed a wonderful story about a goldfish who helped Norman learn about care and responsibility.
We watched a great video about a unique fish, a carp and how it helps to keep the water clean in Japan. Here

Today we explored marshes and swamps. Both of these habitats have lots of fish. We learned that swamps and marshes have different types of water. Some have fresh water and some have saltwater. Lots of different types of birds live in both of these habitats.

Today we began our new exploration of fish. We are learning about the features of fish, their special adaptations, life cycle, and the difference between salt water and freshwater fish.
We are thinking about reasons why we need to care for fish and how important it is to keep our water clean for fish to live.
