We are exploring the different parts of a tree. We are comparing ourselves and our body parts with that of a tree. We both need water, food, and oxygen to live and grow.

Today we started exploring trees outside and thought about the things trees need to grow. The children are working on scientific drawings of trees today.

Today we began our exploration of the forest. We read a wonderful story about trees that get to be really tall and how they provide habitats for other animals.
Today we explored the letters c and o. We are working on writing our first name with 1 capital letter too.

We read a wonderful story about the sky. Then we created beautiful drawings of all the colors we noticed in nature on our morning hike.
We are enjoying our daily BioBlitzs. Today we explored all the wonderful colors that we noticed above our heads, around us, and under our feet. We observed that the land is not always the same. Today we asked questions about what makes the land different.

In kindergarten, we explore rhyming daily. We listen to rhymes, produce rhymes, and make connections through the many stories we read. Below are a couple of great books that explore rhyming.
Celebrating International Dot Day! Today we celebrate along with others across the world in celebrating creativity. We read Peter Reynolds's story The Dot and created many ways we can make our mark and share our creativity with others.

Today we read a wonderful story about the Earth. The story helped us reflect on all the wonderful things the Earth provides for us. We continue to think of ways we can help care for the Earth too.

Today we practiced counting orally. This is a fun activity to do anywhere, anytime. We are using our math hands to help us subitize numbers to 10 and explore odd and even numbers too.
We read a wonderful story about ideas. We talked about how everyone has ideas and how wonderful it is that our ideas are different and alike.
We learned a lot about bats this morning from Scientist Kate. Bats are nocturnal and scientists put backpacks on them to record their travel.

We read 2 wonderful stories with Pete the Cat. We connected the stories to Global Goal #4 Quality Education. The children shared that all children all over the world need to have shoes because that way they can keep their feet warm and safe. The children also shared how shoes help protect our feet from insects and from stepping on things that could hurt us.

We read a wonderful story about kindness. We are thinking about ways we can be kind to each other and the world.
We added the caterpillars we made to our map of the world. We put caterpillars on the continents where they live and can be found. We noticed that Antarctica does not have any caterpillars. We thought about why this might be and shared our ideas. Caterpillars live on land so we connected our ideas to Global Goal #15 Life On Land.

The children enjoyed this story. We shared what kind of dreamer we were too. Some of the children discovered that they were more than just 1 kind of dreamer. This is a wonderful story with so many beautiful illustrations.Look here to see photos from today.
Today we explored numbers 0-5. We counted forwards, backward and used our math hands to subitize numbers too.
We are thinking about numbers that come before and after.
Today we read The Very Hungry Caterpillar and created our own.
Today we experienced our first BioBlitz! It was so fun and we used our skill of observation to help us explore 1 specific area. We drew and colored what we noticed in our spots. Our magnifying glasses helped us get close-ups of what was under our feet.
The story is about children who welcome everybody into their school. The story was about accepting others and kindness. We talked about ways we can welcome others into kindergarten too.
