Problem Solving With Time!

We worked on a problem solver today about time! The children did a wonderful job representing their mathematical thinking. We have been working hard on highlighting our solution as well as writing down how we solved our problem using words!

The SMARTboard is a great tool to help us interact with our math thinking! The children are able to see, interact and share their mathematical ideas as well as highlight key ideas, words and pictures!

Dr. Seuss!

We are enjoying our current author study about Dr. Seuss. Today we read a few more of his great books! One of our students brought in a Dr. Seuss story with some writing she did at her house about the book. The children made connections about this great writing. We realized that when we write we also draw detailed pictures and include labels too!

A Celebration Of Writing!

In closing our current unit of study in writing we decided to have a writing celebration. We invited all of our parents to come in and listen to us read our "How To" Stories! The children read their stories off of our SMARTboard! We used an Elmo projection camera to help magnify our writing. What fun! The children were able to share their thoughts and feelings about this unit of study as well. What amazing writer's we have in Kindergarten!

Celebrating Our How To Writing!

On Monday we invited Mrs. Macnee's Kindergarten class to come and listen to us read our How To Stories! The children did a wonderful job. This is another great way we collaborate with others in our school.

Tag Reading In Kindergarten!

The children are enjoying reading along with their tag pens while reading a story! The tag readers have special activities that the children can interact with on many of the pages. Lots of fun!

Morning Meeting Greeting!

We begin each day by meeting together as a class. We share our ideas, talk about the schedule for the day, we greet each other and read our morning message that is usually very interactive! Today Miss Post taught us a new greeting. It is called the "Shoe Greeting". Be sure to ask your child what we had to do! Lots of fun and a great way to say good morning in a fun way to help ensure that everyone has a great start to our new day!

Box Tops!

Today we enjoyed pizza for our lunch! Our class collected so many Box Tops that we earned a special pizza party! Thanks so very much for all your help collecting the box tops. The Box Tops help both of our schools, Allen Brook and Williston Central purchase needed materials and equipment that support learning. Please continue to keep saving Box Tops as we might win an ice cream party in the spring!

Vermont Writes Day!

Today we celebrated writing in Kindergarten! Today is Vermont Writes Day and many schools in Vermont took time out of their day to participate in different writing activities to celebrate writing. This afternoon we participated in many stations. We had a special snack station, a station where we created accordion books about one of our favorite stories, a station where we could create our own book marks and finally a station where we could write a "How To" story. I hope you enjoy watching and listening to how we celebrate writing in Kindergarten.

Kids On The Block!

Problem Solving With Cupcakes!

This afternoon we worked together on a problem about cupcakes. The children had to listen carefully to the problem and decide how to solve it. The SMARTboard is a great tool to use! We were able to enlarge our cupcakes and even listen to a barking dog! The dog ate 2 of the cupcakes. Lots of fun!
