Today we created and designed our own boat as part of a STEM challenge. The goal was to create a boat that would float holding 1 unifix cube and cross over the wide river just like the gingerbread boy tried to do in the story.

This type of challenge explores collaboration, conversation, curiosity, and creativity. The children did a wonderful job.

This morning the children were amazing. They showed how flexible they can be and how patient they were also. We connected with our friends in Ghana this morning to share the ways we like to play.

This exchange helped us..
1. Think about perspective
2. Use oral language to share our ideas clearly
3. take turns and be patient
4. Listen to another perspective and think about how this might be done in Vermont
5. Supported our literacy skills with our writing and creating clear illustrations with a clear meaning
6. Empathy.. thinking about what it is like for others
7. Being kind and sharing our feelings in a kind, safe, and positive way.
8. Practice and making a direct connection with how technology can be used to enhance and enrich our conversations
9. friendship
