We walked over to the Williston Fire Station where 2 firemen gave us a tour of the fire station, showed us the fire tracks, what firemen wear and they also spoke about how they help our community.  We learned a lot about "How To" keep safe in case of a fire.

One of the firemen showed us what it looks like and sounds like if they have to come into a house that is on fire.

Kelso's Wheel Helps Us Solve Big and Small Problems!

Take a close look at Kelso's wheel!  It has ideas about how we can solve big and small problems.
Here is Mrs. T. with Kelso and Lilly!
This afternoon Mrs. T. visited kindergarten and introduced one of Kelso's friends, Lilly.  Lilly had a problem.  Kelso helped her decide if it was a small or a big problem.  Then Lilly figured out some ways to solve her problem.  Be sure to ask your child/children about the play Mrs. T and I shared.

Sharing An Illustration of Our Planet

A Child Created A Map of The World

Showing Us What He Understands
We have been spending time learning the continents on our planet.  The children have discovered that we have 7 continents that are surrounded by lots of water, called oceans.  We have many new friends that we are connecting with all over the world.  We created a Google Map where we can "pin" our connections so we can see where they live in comparison to where we live.  We will have a huge world map up on our classroom soon to help us learn where we live in the world and how it is similar and different to other places we are learning about through our connections.

Keslo and Pumsy!

Mrs. D. and Mrs. T. role playing "how to" ask for something you would like using safe, kind and responsible hands.
This afternoon Mrs. T. showed us "how to" use Kelso's wheel to solve our problems.  Today we talked about the importance of using our hands in a safe, kind and responsible way to let people know what we want.

Connecting Using SKYPE!

This morning we had a video call from a parent who is in Cape Town, South Africa.  SKYPE is a great way to connect and share.  We enjoyed saying hello and seeing one of our friends dad talking to us from such a long ways away!
We have created a Google map to mark all the places in the world that we are connecting with.

On Wednesday we will be using SKYPE to connect with our kindergarten friends in Washington, D.C.
