Einstein Visits Kindergarten!

As part of a PBIS school celebration Einstein, our school mascot stopped by Kindergarten to let us know what a great job we are doing being safe, kind and responsible.  We had our picture taken and gave him a high 5!
When we are kind we feel great inside and then others are also kind.  The buzzes we get reminds us about what we are doing well.  ABS is a wonderful place to be.

This afternoon we took a wonderful walk in celebration of National Walk To School Day. Walking is a great way to get fresh air and keep your heart healthy. We also noticed that walking helps us do our best in school. We noticed how focused we were after our walk. Thanks Mrs. Carr for the fun activity book and sticker.

Creating and Designing: Machu Picchu

We are busy creating Machu Picchu.  Stay tuned as we design this amazing place using recycled materials.  This is a collaborative opportunity for us to work and learn together.  Thanks also to all of the families for your support with the materials and your time.

This morning we had some dental hygienists visit Kindergarten.  We learned that we should be brushing our teeth for 2 minutes at least 2 times a day.  Also it is a great idea to floss with an adult watching us.  We also talked about how eating lots of fruits and vegetables will keep the "sugar bugs" away from our mouths.  Click here to watch the video that taught us a few great things to remember!

Play

One of the things I enjoy most about Kindergarten is the play.  Play is real, authentic and passionate.  We play throughout the day.  This afternoon a couple of students created lots of different structures using cups.  The mathematical thinking was amazing as well as the collaboration about "how to" get their tower to stand without falling.  This is where children can get at critical thinking and explore "how to" solve a problem collaboratively.

Later as we began cleaning up one of my students said, "Look Mrs. D." I just taped this plastic cup instead of throwing it away.  We are being responsible because we are taking care of the world."

"How To" Leave A Comment: Kidblog

Mrs. Birdsall visited Kindergarten.  She talked to us about leaving comments and compliments on our Kidblogs. Click here to read a post about Kidblogs!
When leave leave comments we:
1. Post Kind Words
2. Jusitfy our comment.  We know we are doing this when we use the word because.  This connects with our mathematical thinking too!
3. Leave spaces in between our words.

4. Ask a question.
