Being Flexible!

Today we explored a wonderful word, FLEXIBLE.  When we are flexible we are able to collaborate, learn from others and change our thinking.  We also are able to learn about another perspective and someone's idea. We are working on this in Kindergarten! We used a straw to help show what happens when we are flexible.  Kindergarten is so much fun!

1. Taking Turns

2. Sharing
3. Solving Problems
4. Helping Each other
5. Have Conversations
6. We learn new things
7. We value other ideas.
8. It is Fun!

Guess where some of our compost waste will be going?  We learned how to make a bed for worms too!  We will be taking turns caring for the worms in all of the Kindergarten classrooms.

Logging On/Logging Off

We visited our technology lab in our school to learn about the parts of a computer, their job and then "how to" log on and log off.  We used our special log in cards to help us.

 We learned that:
1. When you log in it is like you are talking/telling the computer who you are. When you log off you say good-bye.  This way the computer knows you have left.
2. We use the computers in a safe, kind and responsible way.
3. We ask friends nearby to help us if we are stuck.
4. Mrs. Scott helps us when we have a question.

Remembering to 'Look up!"

Mrs. Birdsall visited Kindergarten and read us a wonderful story called;"Hello, hello".  The story had an important message for us.  Digital tools are wonderful and can offer a lot of opportunities for learning, but it is important to have balance and to "look up" from your screen and see who and what is around you!

Today we were able to reach out and connect with friends in Minnesota to share our "dots."  We were able to use Twitter to "tweet" what we explored and we even had an opportunity to eat dot snacks thanks to many thoughtful families in Kindergarten.  Creativity is important.  When we are curious about things we begin to ask questions and think deeply about what we want to know.  What a wonderful day we had!
