Flexible Thinking

Today we explored flexible thinking.  When we are flexible with our thinking we are happier and can do lots of things that we thought we could not do.  On Friday we will be bringing home our own "flexible" straw to remind us how fun and easy it is to be flexible.

Keslo's Choice

This afternoon Ms. S. visited Kindergarten to help us explore "how to" make choices to solve problems. We have this poster in our classroom to help us make a choice about what strategy we want to try.
Also click here to see a great video that shares what the choices are, like Kelso that we will be exploring when we have a problem to solve.

Today in Kindergarten we began painting what we think a forest looks like. Later we created book covers for our forest writing.
Forests are important because they help us breath oxygen and it is healthy.

Today we began exploring the forest.  We started by looking at books and images we found on Kiddle.com which is a safe way to search for information.  We noticed many things about trees and also shared why forests are important.
This is what we know about forests.....
*They are something you can explore.
*a bunch of trees together
*home for animals
*has dirt in it
*animals have their habitat and can climb trees to escape from predators.
*where worms live, under the grass
*where animals live
*a place where it can be dark
*bears live, animals climb trees to escape bears
*a lot of leaves
*lots of trees
*some trees grow bigger, coniferous and deciduous
*where animals grow
*a place where animals live.

This morning we had a real professional ballet dancer come to Kindergarten.   She talked to us about what ballet is and some of the moves.  We learned that ballet is an art, not a sport.
We learned:
1. Danseur is what a male ballet dancer is called.  A woman is a ballerina.
2. They use a needle and thread to tie their ribbons before they perform.
3.  Pointe shoes are made of canvas and glue.
4.  We learned some stretches.  We enjoyed the butterfly stretch.
5.  We also learned new positions that the dancers do also.
6.  Dancers wrap their toes with tape so they don't get blisters.
