Today we started our first math problem solver. The problem was about birds on a fence and we had to make predictions about what color bird would appear next. We read the problem together, talked about what we needed to do to solve the problem and ways to show our mathematical thinking. Wow! The children saw the pattern of colored birds right away! We then worked in small groups and made representations of how we solved the problem. We even had a guest come, Ms. Halsted! She is a retired teacher who worked at WCS for 36 years! She is going to come every week and help us solve problems.
